VTech Safe&Sound® Digital Audio Baby Monitor Review

Disclosure: This blog post is brought to you by VTech and The Motherhood. All opinions are my own.

Since I have a teen and a tween I really no longer need a baby monitor, or so you would think. However, I do have three spunky indoor dogs that need quite a bit of attention. Today I am going to share with you about the VTech Safe&Sound® DM271-110 DECT 6.0 Digital Audio Baby Monitor with Open/Closed & Motion Sensors and how I use part of it to keep track of my dogs.

VTech understands that choosing the perfect baby monitor for your growing family is an important decision and that’s why they’ve developed the Safe&Sound® line of monitors with features suited to any family. These monitors are equipped with features to give you peace of mind – anywhere, anytime. The Safe&Sound® line of baby monitors range from compact audio monitors to award-winning high-tech video monitors. All are designed to offer safety and security for both you as a parent and your growing children.

The VTech Digital Audio Monitor has a plethora of great benefits, especially if you have a growing family. The VTech Digital Audio Monitor comes with ULE (Ultra Low Energy) smart sensors – Open/Closed and Motion that make it easy to keep an ear on babies and toddlers that are on-the-move. With the monitor’s ULE sensors you can easily go about your day while monitoring those off-limits areas such as cabinets, doors, and other open spaces. When your child (or dogs in my case) go into these off limits areas, the monitor will directly notify the parent unit so you’ll know about it immediately.

The VTech Digital Audio Monitor comes standard with DECT 6.0 Digital Technology that assures you that no one else can hear what’s going on inside your home for peace of mind. The monitor has a 1,000 feet wireless range so you can go about your day moving throughout your home without worrying about losing connection.

Some of the other features of the VTech Safe&Sound® DM271-110 DECT 6.0 Digital Audio Baby Monitor with Open/Closed & Motion Sensors are:

  • Glow-on-ceiling night light with lullaby
  • Back-lit display on the parent unit
  • Talk-back intercom so you can talk to your baby (or dogs in my case)
  • Temperature sensor
  • Vibrating sound-alert on the parent unit
  • Adjustable projection angle
  • Belt clip
  • Volume control
  • Rechargeable battery with low-battery alert on the parent unit
  • 5-level sound indicator

I’ve been using the motion sensor that comes with the VTech Digital Audio Monitor to keep track of where my dogs are in the house. Specifically when they walk to the front door so I know when they need to go outside. This helps me to prevent nasty accidents in our home and also keeps me aware of where my dogs are. I mounted the motion sensor on the side of the wall near the bottom of our front door and it has been working perfectly to alert me when the dogs need to go outside.

If I had a baby or small child, I would love the glow-on-ceiling function with the lullaby to help soothe my child to sleep. When my son’s were younger I had a terrible time getting them to sleep without rocking them and I think if I had had this VTech Digital Audio Monitor things would’ve been a whole lot easier.

If you are a parent of a baby, young child or have a growing family, I think the VTech Safe&Sound® DM271-110 DECT 6.0 Digital Audio Baby Monitor with Open/Closed & Motion Sensors would be a wonderful addition to your home. I sure do wish this technology would have been available many years ago when I had my sons!
